Telecom Support Engineer

About this Role

We are currently seeking an experienced Telecom Support Engineer to join our dynamic team in Cairo, Egypt. The ideal candidate will be responsible for providing high-quality technical support for our telecom systems and ensuring the optimal performance of telecom services for our clients. Key Responsibilities: - Install, configure, and maintain telecom systems and applications, focusing on protocols such as SS7, ISDN, and SIP. - Troubleshoot complex issues related to voice and data communications networks, providing timely and accurate resolutions. - Monitor network performance, identify bottlenecks, and implement improvements to ensure high availability and reliability. - Coordinate with vendors and service providers to resolve outages and perform necessary hardware or software updates. - Implement and oversee system upgrades, backups, and disaster recovery operations. - Provide technical guidance and support for customers, addressing their inquiries and concerns with professionalism. - Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure seamless integration of telecom services with other IT infrastructure. - Stay abreast of new technologies and advancements in the telecom industry, suggesting enhancements when appropriate. - Develop and maintain technical documentation, including system configurations, network diagrams, and operational procedures. - Participate in an on-call rotation to ensure 24/7 support for critical telecom systems. Requirements: - Bachelor's degree in Telecommunications, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or a related field. - A minimum of 4 years of experience in telecommunications support or a similar role. - Strong knowledge of signaling protocols such as SS7, ISDN, and SIP is essential. - Familiarity with VoIP technologies, session border controllers (SBCs), and media gateways. - Experience with telecom-related testing and diagnostic tools. - Proficiency in troubleshooting network infrastructure, including routers, switches, and firewalls. - Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills. - Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively within a team. - Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, with a capacity to articulate complex technical information to non-technical stakeholders. - Availability to work outside of regular business hours when necessary. - Fluent in English, with Arabic proficiency considered an asset.
